It was a gloomy, stormy, and rainy day and I was mentally and figuratively paralyzed at the couch for 6 hours trying to process a difficult change. The only thing that kept my attention and my gaze, were the neighbors big red Dahlias which seemed to provide a moment of comfort anytime I looked at them. Noticing my distraught state, my mom asked the neighbor for one of the Dahlia flowers I kept staring at, to present to me since I was so drawn to it. This started a change in me that led to my love and passion for farming dahlias - and each passing year led to a bigger more exciting spectrum of dahlias. This was the seed that became the bloom for this store. I met Susie Brubaker (the artist) recently, and she came in explaining that she heard Dahlia's Song was coming to Tarrytown, and the store was so original and unique, and began forging a work of art to represent how she imagined it. After explaining my excitement about farming dahlias and developing Dahlia's Song, she decided to complete the piece by added the window to what you see now. I placed it lovingly and with help from her and her husband - Ed, over the piano area in the shop - to remain a powerful and constant reminder of the origin story. I could think of no better place than the wonderful Westchester river town - Tarrytown, in the historic former Washington Irving Bank, from which many in the community have fond memories of, or appreciation for. The other missing piece and remnant from this story - is the foundation stone... the song "here comes the sun" - a Beetles favorite, and a song tied to my memory of love and care - a powerful beacon in a challenging moment I hold close to my heart. You can now enjoy this with me, a hearth with a permanent warmth that fires our hearts from this song's. A connection at a cellular level that fuels my passion for sharing love and making experiences in the community, with a business that helps keep me grounded everyday.
